Freedom From Societal Norms

What a world it would be. No one is judged based on who they are and their beliefs. A world with no stereotypes and ideologies that we are forced to accept and live with. A place where we could pursue our dreams without being told that is not how things are done.

In today’s world, there are a lot of ideologies, stereotypes, views, and opinions. People tend to pick the one they feel strongly about and follow; they would even try to enforce them on the rest of the world. Different ideologies were built because there was no other way of grouping people and things. An ideology is a set of beliefs and characteristics of a social group or individual. It was used by politicians and the elite to influence people. Just because they were rich and had status, they believed their view of the world was the only correct. Stereotypes are generalized beliefs about a particular category of people. They are deemed to be the usual way a person should behave.

The stereotypes that surround our society suffocate a person. Some of these stereotypes were taught to us when growing up. In our homes, we were taught that things should be done a certain way and there is a certain way one should behave. One would see these stereotypes as limits to one’s capabilities and thinking. They put their minds in a box. The different labels that exist out there are handcuffs that people hand out. Can’t you just love them both but love one more than the other. Acknowledge one and worship one. According to the prophets and pastors worldwide, following any religion besides Christianity is a sin. When the colonizers came to Africa, they taught us that the only way to please God was by following their European way of doing things, and they were the

If only people could learn to do things individually and not pretend to help people by claiming to help them see the light. Everyone should do what they desire, even if it can not be explained. It does not have to be understood by everyone as long as it feels right to you. Giving labels may give clarity, but it also creates bondage for one.
